College Regulations

Duration of the MBBCh programme is six (6) academic years for candidates admitted with the General Certificate of Education, Ordinary level (G.C.E O/L)/ The West African School Certificate (WASC)/Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE)/ National Examination Council (NECO) or five (5) academic years for those admitted with General Certificate of Education Advanced Level (GCE A/L).

Higher School Certificate (HSC) or equivalent qualification or relevant science degree in the relevant subject areas. To be eligible for Direct Entry admission, an applicant must have completed the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) programme.


Pre – Medical programme

Students admitted with GCE O/L / WASC / SSCE / NECO start with the Pre – Medical programme. But those admitted with GCE A/L / HSC or equivalent qualification or relevant science degree with a minimum of 2nd Class Upper division, duration of this programme is two semesters – 16 weeks.

Pre – Clinical 1 (PC 1) Year 2

The duration of this programme is two semesters of 16 weeks each separated by 2 weeks holiday.

Pre – Clinical II (PC II) Year 3

Duration is one semester of 16 weeks then final Part I examination is taken.

Clinical Medicine

This commences in the 3rd year of training into the 4th year.

Clinical 1: Year 4

Part II MBBCh Examination is taken, this adds up to 56 weeks.

Clinical 2 (C II) Year 5

The duration of year 5 programme shall be 56 weeks.

Clinical 3 (C III) Year 6

This training lasts for 44 weeks including the 2 weeks period for that Part IV MBBCh Final Professional Examination.
